This page address know support issues for our Vocational Assessment of Lost Earnings (VALE) software, version 1.0.  Click any of the below topics to expand its discussion:

• Office 2000 versions with Microsoft Access
  • VALE versions shipped prior to July 2001 ran with the Microsoft Access 97 Runtime Engine. While we have no recorded incidents because of this, the same caveats apply as to the below entry regarding Office XP.

• Invalid use of Null
  • Check the "User Defaults" (from Control Panel, select the Maintenance tab and press the User Defaults button on the top left of the form). Nothing should be grayed out, do NOT press the OK button until all settings are checked and/or changed.
• Office XP^TM with Microsoft Access XP/2002^TM
  • The current version of the program is built on the Microsoft Access 2000^TM Runtime Engine. Version 1.0 and some early Version 1.1 copies will insist on installing the Access 2000^TM runtime - which may cause difficulties (Microsoft recommends installing prior versions before installing later versions). Later 1.1 (including the Worklife Probability Edition) versions will detect and use Access 2002/XP^TM.  Either reinstall Access 2002^TM after VALE or contact us for an upgrade.
• Windows XP/NT^TM
  • We do not recommend the practice of running the machine with Administrative rights for day-to-day operations. Therefore, either the specific user or the VALE Group containing authorized users should have read/write/modify rights to the "HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Vocational Econometrics" key in the system registry as well as the "Program Files\VALE" directory into which the program is installed.
