James R. Newton, D.H.Sc., CRC is a vocational analyst with Vocational Economics, Inc. He provides expert vocational testimony specific to earning capacity and worklife expectancy for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Newton is a board certified rehabilitation counselor, a rehabilitation supplier with the Georgia State Board of Worker's Compensation, a vocational evaluator with the Georgia Department of Labor - Rehabilitation Services, a professional school counselor, and a contracted vocational expert with the United State Social Security Administration - Office of Disability Adjudication and Review.

Dr. Newton has a Doctor of Health Science degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and a Master's of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Case Management from Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia. In addition, he has completed also post graduate study in school counseling with an emphasis in issues relative to children with disabilities.

Dr. Newton has done doctoral research on factors that affect the employment of individuals with disabilities. He has a thorough understanding of the way in which worklife expectancy for persons with a disability is computed and the practical experience of applying a worklife expectancy value to a specific individual with a work disability condition. He has analyzed thousands of cases involving partial and total disability. His experience includes cases of traumatic brain injury, sensory impairments, chronic pain, and orthopedic injuries as well as cases specific to psychological impairment.

Dr. Newton has taught graduate level disability related courses and served as an internship site supervisor at the university level. He has made numerous presentations on career analysis, employment, job placement, and evolving earnings issues related to persons with disabilities. Additionally, he is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals, the American Rehabilitation Economics Association, the American Board of Vocational Experts, the Georgia Rehabilitation Association, the American Rehabilitation Counseling Association, and the Private Rehabilitation Suppliers of Georgia.
